If a Cambodi Oud was ever distilled in Assam, this is what it would smell like. When I received the first batch of this particular jungle's Oud, I got into a mix-up with the distiller, calling him up and crying, 'Borneo! You've mixed Borneo wood into the stills – this can't be Indian!'
Oud is a mysterious aromatic, Assam Oud even more so. It takes months before you can appreciate the true character of each unique extraction.
Oud Nuh, the noblest Assam Oud we've put our label on, is the Hindi you never had, and always dreamt of. Every Borneo leaves you wishing something was deeper in it; more sacred; less sensual. Every Cambodi could use a rounder base note. Every Assam can be overwhelming.
Oud Nuh is perfection. Unlike other Hindis, the generally sharp barnyard character is less pronounced and the top-notes less pungent. Instead of the gradual change in the oil's profile, the aroma remains marvelously monotonous – for those occasions where you simply want an essence without progress or change – a ceaseless moment.
As you inhale you find that moment of bliss, perpetually, discovering the same primordial Hindi qualities accompany you throughout the day.
Boasting the sweetness of the finest Borneo, the fruitiness of Cambodi Caramel, and the timelessness of the noblest Hindi, Oud Nuh was distilled from the 80 year-old trees of a hidden jungle in southern Assam.
Oud Nuh is a timeless gift from the All-Merciful, for which we are deeply grateful. It is the scent of the Sufi.
Crafted: May 2009. Almost three full years natural aging in carefully sealed, air-tight German Pyrex. Fully protected from air and from light. No sunning, no lamping, no airing. No force-aging at play, ever. This oil is yours to delve deeper and deeper into, and grow old with. It has not been oxidized artificially to seem like a mature Oud oil.
Note: Oud Nuh is available for a limited time only. For anyone in love Oud al Hindi, this is a must-have textbook reference.
Oud Nuh opens with a symphony of notes – a harmony of barnyard, fruits, and sweet wood. The fruity and sweet-woody notes quickly crescendo above the barnyard note, but in the next movement Nuh's Indian heart mysteriously shows its forte and beauty in a dance with the fruity and sweet-woody notes.
The fruity note of Oud Nuh is tantalizing. My first thought is “Cambodi Caramel!” Oud Nuh boasts a fruity note that is strikingly similar to the colorful berries of Cambodi Caramel. And this is an Indian Oud?! Don't worry, the barnyard is still there, but it is more “tame” than most Indian Ouds. Surprisingly, this “tameness” coupled with the Cambodian fruitiness is Oud Nuh's unique allure. Later, one notices a subtle hint of suede amidst the clean woodiness. In its dry down, the aroma of cedar unites with the deeper barnyard note, and not one breath goes by without also noticing that intoxicating sweetness that tops and rounds every note like the grace note of a musical score.
Oud Nuh is truly regal, displaying a colorful range of notes and an enticing complexity with sophistication you have not known before. A desirable young prince, Nuh is beautiful and dignified, noble and strong, but possessing a sweet and soft heart.
While maintaining its simplicity amidst the fullness of its symphonic aroma, Nuh exudes luxury and succulence. Linear and provocative, Oud Nuh hums its own song of songs – a vibrant contemplation pulsating with a life and mystery unique to itself. Oud of the Moghuls, Nuh is the Oud of royalty.
This Oud is a silent and joyous dance of human and spiritual maturity – a radiant equanimity, touching the heart and gently opening a smile. – Neeshee, Fiji
What strikes me as unusual and particularly nice about Nuh is the Borneo-like topnote that suffuses it with a light and breezy floral delicacy. It is sweet, luminescent and lilting right from the moment of application. The gem I'd liken it to is sapphire – its scent is vivid and saturated, intense and sinewy. Although Nuh is linear oil, it has a chamois suppleness that softens and makes it flow.
Nuh is an elegant, young dignitary – composed and graceful, lithe yet stately. His confidence commands respect; his easy manner veils a gentle strength. Nuh is oil that will appeal to those who enjoy the lustiness of Hindi oils in a more muted and docile guise. – Isabella, NY
Oud Nuh! Truly the most elegant Hindi experienced until today. Thanks! – Alan, Brazil
This is currently my favourite Hindi hands down! I love it! The scent is very linear and the woody note is just incredible. I just love how this oil keeps reminding me of its presence throughout the day. – Suhel, UK
I was really anxious to receive this special oud, and it was definitely worth the wait. I am careful not to wear oud oil to the workplace due to the overwhelming effect on the uninitiated but I could not fight the urge to adorn myself with a swipe or two. No complaints, not even from my wife... Normally, an oud of this quality is far out of my reach but with the sample vial, I can enjoy the rare taste of a supreme oud – Oud Nuh! – Mustafa, PA
Oud Nuh is spiritually evocative: A blessed elder who honed his knowledge of the world and is standing tall amongst all other sages. It has that cade smell (special scented water used in Taif, usually along with pomegranate to make it more appealing). This cade note would, along with the fragrant flower fields, spread all over a vast sandy shore facing the sea, giving the cameo of a man in solitude, eulogizing his Lord in unison with all the creatures of this world. The scent that opens the eyes of one's heart, and epistemologically opens the mind of the meditating. That is the scent of Nuh. – Alawi, Saudi Arabia
Nuh is simply an aristocratic Oud... rich and yet so well behaved. – Hisham, FL
