If a Cambodi Oud was ever distilled in Assam, this is what it would smell like. When I received the first batch of this particular jungle's Oud, I got into a mix-up with the distiller, calling him up and crying, 'Borneo! You've mixed Borneo wood into the stills – this can't be Indian!'
Oud is a mysterious aromatic, Assam Oud even more so. It takes months before you can appreciate the true character of each unique extraction.
Oud Nuh, the noblest Assam Oud we've put our label on, is the Hindi you never had, and always dreamt of. Every Borneo leaves you wishing something was deeper in it; more sacred; less sensual. Every Cambodi could use a rounder base note. Every Assam can be overwhelming.
Oud Nuh is perfection. Unlike other Hindis, the generally sharp barnyard character is less pronounced and the top-notes less pungent. Instead of the gradual change in the oil's profile, the aroma remains marvelously monotonous – for those occasions where you simply want an essence without progress or change – a ceaseless moment.
As you inhale you find that moment of bliss, perpetually, discovering the same primordial Hindi qualities accompany you throughout the day.
Boasting the sweetness of the finest Borneo, the fruitiness of Cambodi Caramel, and the timelessness of the noblest Hindi, Oud Nuh was distilled from the 80 year-old trees of a hidden jungle in southern Assam.
Oud Nuh is a timeless gift from the All-Merciful, for which we are deeply grateful. It is the scent of the Sufi.
